Our foods carry chemicals designed to destroy insects, to stop the natural process of bacterial degradation, and to enhance flavor. None of these improve the health and life of the consumer.
So what can we do to maintain optimal health in the face of so many environmental challenges? If our body wasn’t so wonderfully made, it’s questionable if any of us would survive to adulthood.
We have many organs involved in clearing these various obstacles to optimal health. I like to compare our system to a bucket which is constantly being filled up. As long as the spigot at the bottom is letting the contents flow out equally or faster than what’s entering at the top, nothing overflows and we stay healthy.
The bucket spilling over shows up as the symptoms we see when the person has reached toxin overload and can’t clear them faster than intake. This becomes evident with impaired liver, lung, kidney, bowel, and skin clearance. The rate of exposure, if kept lower than the efficiency of our systemic clearance can prevent the toxic damage seen as disease.
Since clearing toxins from the system requires important nutritional resources, eating a diet void of critical nutrition can severely impair clearance. It’s like closing down the spigot to a mere dribble while the toxic elements continue to flow in at the same rate.
People with injured clearance are far more sensitive to their environment than others. We see this among those affected by multiple chemical sensitivities. These people face challenges of physical reactions from just walking down the soap isle at the grocery store or being in the presence of someone with perfume on. For these people, life is very challenging.
Your liver needs nutrition like cruciferous vegetables to facilitate many enzymatic reactions required to neutralize and remove potentially toxic compounds arising from either cellular metabolism or environmental poisoning. Glutathione is a major sulfur continuing compound, generated in your liver from cruciferous vegetables. It’s the single most potent antioxidant, specific to protecting the health of every cell in your body.
Since neutralization and clearance of many toxins in your body is heavily dependent on glutathione, it’s important that your liver be in good working order and your intake of these cruciferous vegetables adequate to preserve youth and vitality. If you aren’t a fan of Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli, and cabbage, beets are another fine source of the rudimentary nutrients required for your liver to make glutathione.
Kidney function mirrors liver function. If your kidneys fail to flush out end stage wastes, the skin and lungs can become burdened with attempting to clear them. An overload in the skin can be seen in various skin diseases. The most common cause of psoriasis is a poorly functioning liver. Your skin was never designed to break down metabolic wastes. That’s the job of your liver. When it fails, your skin and lungs get the overload.
Over time, a deficiency of regenerative nutrition coupled with overload of environmental exposure can precipitate many organ stressors. A study with inhaled radioactive dust eventually showed up in the liver. This shows a direction of lung clearance, which if overloaded with a sluggish or toxic liver can result in respiratory problems from bronchitis, asthma, or lung cancer. The smoker isn’t just depositing tar and nicotine in the lungs, but directing them to the liver for clearance. Add to this other systemic burdens, and eventually the lungs fail to further clear themselves, potentially setting up problems like COPD or lung cancer.
With these various conditions, it should be evident why I suggest a Purification protocol which focuses on liver, kidneys, and digestion. Is your bucket full, lets empty it.
