We may not be completely aware of the chemical changes taking place, but these biochemical changes set us up for any number of disease states.
Consider the word used here “dis-ease”. Meaning not at ease, not at rest. When this is happening, maintenance and repair of the entire body is put on hold. It’s like ignoring the warning light that says check the oil. If you keep on driving the vehicle without servicing it, there will be a break down.
The foundation of all the mental/emotional issues stated above is fear. Fear is the root that gives birth to all these negative emotions. Our present day society thrives on fear. It’s in the media as well as our conversations with others. It comes out in our expressions and how we speak.
As long as fear is in control, the use of medications to offset it will continue to be required. Fear activates the adrenal glands, releasing both adrenalin and cortisol. The adrenalin helps us escape danger. This is intended to only be for the moment, and then be cleared from the system. When the stimulus doesn’t reduce, and the release of adrenalin continues, that’s when tissue damage can occur. Living scared is not living in abundance.
Cortisol is a defense mechanism which assists the body in balancing blood sugar. It’s released when blood sugar drops as a means of releasing glycogen from the liver to sustain blood sugar and prevent hypoglycemic damage. We have elevated cortisol on rising which should reflect the time we sleep and are fasting then drop after breakfast and stay lower as we maintain normal glycemic intake. By the time we go to bed it is supposed to be at it’s lowest, allowing us to easily fall asleep.
When cortisol is chronically elevated due to poor dietary sugar intake or in cases of prolonged stress, we see many types of damage to the body. Prolonged elevations of cortisol can impair sleep, create arteriosclerosis, heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, leaky gut and allergy syndrome. When I see chronic allergies and chemical sensitivities, it’s common to find elevated cortisol.
Unfortunately our world is dominated by fear and fear mongering. Fear sells! Why do we buy insurance? Fear. What sells the news? Fear. Some people are so addicted to fear they actually spend money to watch horror films. Some can’t pry themselves from their TV and the news.
What we watch and listen to takes residence in our spirit and controls our physical body. How many end up with heart issues or strokes just from over indulgence in the news. That feeling of stress due to issues we have no control over takes it’s toll on the system. Life can be stressful enough.
The present turmoil in our country with rioting is completely the fault of news networks and the sensationalism they pedal. They initiated fear in the country over a virus which is in actuality no more lethal than so many flu viruses before it. That fear has caused a country to close up shop and even caused some to commit suicide. Can you believe that? So afraid of death that they kill themselves.
Fear is the opposite of faith. If faith comes by hearing God’s word of love, fear comes from hearing the world’s words of hate. The more we witness the tragedy of hate filled people doing lawless acts on television, the more we grow fear inside, which ultimately brings on physical illnesses.
The remote has an off button as well as the ability to change channels. My health is far more precious than time watching lawless, hate filled individuals performing acts of violence. As long as this earth remains there will be violence. It’s up to us if we’re going to participate as spectators, or to participate in better, healthier areas.
Many study disease, my goal is to study health. What we put our eyes and ears on is what we ultimately produce in our lives. A patient of mine told me of a pastor who preached adamantly against pornography. After his death they found volumes of hard core porn in his desk. What are you fighting or promoting? We need to focus on God’s love for us. Dump the fear! It only brings on sickness.
