Instead of identifying missing nutrition, modern medicine looks for whatever drug they can create which will turn off the unpleasant symptoms of the body reacting to these deficiencies.
Unfortunately, with a continued lack of proper nutrition, the problem continues along with the various side effects of the drug initially used. When these side effects occur, it’s not uncommon to be given another drug to cover the side effects.
What’s often ignored is that the second drug usually increases the number of side effects as much as ten fold. If your drugs are killing you, the best solution is to get rid of them.
Unfortunately, in many cases we see where the foundational issue has gone on for so long that these drugs aren’t only causing side effects, but have now created dependance on them. This is why it’s critical to identify the initial problem and correct it before removing these drugs and creating more serious issues.
Often the greatest challenge is wading through a boatload of drugs and side effects to identify the initial problem, which was never properly addressed, and fulfilling that deficiency.
When I had to sign up for medicare, I decided to find someone to call a primary care physician. Until this time, I didn’t acquire one as I’ve had an understanding of my body and what it requires, and never needed one. I asked the VA to connect me with a doctor. He was amazed when he examined me and said I was in excellent health for my age. Then he asked what medications I was on. This amazed him more when I said, “None.” Then he asked who my primary physician has been, and I told him, “Me.”
We all need to take responsibility for our own health. This means addressing nutritional needs by understanding the role of food, not as entertainment, but as our medicine to live a long and productive life. Just as abusing your automobile by ignoring maintenance and providing the proper fuel will end up shortening the life of the vehicle, not caring for your body properly can’t be blamed on anyone but yourself. To know what’s healthy to eat and not eat, and not following through with that knowledge is like knowing that your engine requires oil and not putting any in the crankcase.
The list of symptoms which can be related to the drugs you may have been prescribed can be as long as the list of diseases these drugs are given for. It’s sad when I review the drugs my patient has been taking and then look at the side effects and find what they’re taking them for are the very symptoms they’re having.
The British Medical Journal had published a paper back in 2006 which addressed stopping the offending drug. The researchers implied that every physician has the unique opportunity to effect a total cure by stopping the offending drug or by lowering the dose.
An interesting observation is that small amounts of an element will stimulate the body while large doses sedate it. Since the goal of treating patients involves increasing vitality while eliminating unwanted symptoms, it’s interesting to see that homeopathic medications, which are very low doses, tend to restore health and vitality while the use of pharmaceutical drugs accomplish just the opposite.
Stopping unwanted medications can be critical to getting better, but restoring the foundational nutrients required for abundant health is paramount. Any time there’s a new symptom, your first action should be an investigation of medications taken to identify if it’s a side effect and then modify that medication. This means finding a way to reduce or better yet, to eliminate it.
With many drugs, stopping cold turkey can be extremely dangerous. This is where the help of a physician who understands the biochemistry of the drug and your system is important. In most cases, weaning off drugs is the safest action. Using nutritional support like herbs, which can assist in the weaning process is an excellent choice. With Google, we can look up any of these drugs and identify what the potential side effects are. Don’t remain in the dark about medications you may be taking.
