Recently at the VA, I asked if I could have an eye exam since the last DMV renewal they informed me I was on the cusp of needing glasses to renew.
The VA examiner asked when my last exam was, to which I stated, 35 or more years ago. They did agree that my vision was borderline for drivers license, but more importantly, they found a silent issue, which can cause damage to the optic nerve and the retina.
The pressure inside your eye is supposed to be within certain boundaries. This pressure is supposed to range from 12-22 mmHg. If the fluid inside your eye can’t escape, pressure rises, and can damage the sensitive tissues of your eye. A pressure of more than 30 mmHg can lead to blindness in as few as 3 years.
In my case, I was double what should have been. There are no symptoms that accompany increased intra-ocular pressure. What usually happens is gradual loss of peripheral vision before there’s complete loss of sight.
Conventional medicine will begin with eye drops that can begin to reduce the pressure, removing the potential damage. In most cases, any side effects from these eye drops is minimal. The degree of reduction in pressure is usually only 30%.
Being a naturopathic doctor, and understanding the natural physiology of the body, I did agree to use the drops, but added in nutritional support to aid the body in correcting the underlying issue. After only one month taking the proper nutrition and the drops, I shocked them at the VA with normal intra-ocular pressure.
When I was young, I dealt with seizures, which were completely eliminated with some of the same nutrition which regulated osmotic pressure in my head. Since it worked fifty years ago, I figured, why not do it again. Besides the use of the osmotic regulating carbamide, I included use of a product specific for restoring health to the eyes.
My wife, who’s worn glasses her whole life started using this eye rebuilding product a while back, and every time she goes in for her eye checks, they have to give her weaker glasses. I figure, if I do likewise, I’ll have no issue when I go for renewing my drivers license.
The protocol I’m currently using, I intend to continue using until I see the eye doctor in three months. They will map the eyes to evaluate field of vision and compare to previous. This is one way for me to convince those in other fields of medicine that correct nutritional support has it’s place in all areas of medicine.
Just because you feel you have good eyesight doesn’t suggest you should pass on having your eyes checked. Cataracts can signal difficulty with calcium utilization. Here is where making sure polyunsaturated oils are included in the diet to help with preventing the calcium from depositing in the lens of your eyes. If it’s already started, consider the use of phosphorous in the form of orthophosphoric acid to bind up the calcium, vitamin D to suspend it in the blood, and vitamin F to deliver it to the cells where it’s required.
Your vision is important, and damage to the optic nerve can truly leave you in the dark. If you already have vision issues and want to improve eye health, consider foods With lutein. Lutein is essential for keeping eye pressure down. Carrots, corn, kale, spinach, Swiss chard, collard and mustard greens, red peppers, parsley, dill, tomatoes, potatoes, berries, apples and plums contain lutein. The multiple support for the eye that I’ve been using contains bone and eye DNA, whole food forms of vitamins A and C along with the nerve building anti-pellagra B vitamin complex. A rich source of rutin to improve circulation to the eye and ortho-phorosphoric acid to reduce calcium buildup in the lens.
If you’ve been putting off having your eyes examined for a long time like I did, consider making sure they’re in good health. If they’re not, let’s turn the tide on them with the appropriate nutrition. I can’t imagine life without enjoying the beauties of this world.
