In Deuteronomy 30, God states that He places before us either life or death, blessing or cursing. Then He commands us to choose life that we and our offspring may live.
I’d say that’s pretty simple. Every day we make decisions, and often times these can blow up in our faces if we make the wrong choices. I can attest to this as 45 years ago I recharged an old seltzer bottle which blew up and almost took my life. Since I didn’t apply the knowledge of gas laws which I had learned previously, you could say I acted foolishly. Thankfully I’ve become more cautious over the ensuing years.
Every day we face decisions. What to eat, what to drink, should we exercise, how much sleep to get, what kind of work we want to do, where to live and who to marry. Every one of these choices have consequences. The consequences can be wonderful or potentially disastrous.
The choice of living a healthy life, following a life coach who promotes health can improve your life. Just letting your flesh rule can really mess you up.
Dr Oral Roberts made a statement which I love. He said, “Any old dead fish can float down-stream.” A life worth living takes effort. Seeking healthy food which is void of pollutants and raised organically costs more and isn’t always easy to find. Because of this, many choose to just float downstream eating whatever’s convenient and tastes good.
The reason I write these articles is hopefully to get people thinking for themselves and doing some personal research. Unfortunately, fact checker and other elements like g**gle can no longer be trusted to give you truth. When researching truth, I have to be diligent, looking at things through an appropriate filter. If you research the heads of WHO, CDC, and FDA, it can leave you questioning just who can one believe. Not always are the WHO’s in WHOville well represented.
You must take charge of your own health because the government isn’t concerned with your health and wellbeing. This is one reason why government healthcare will never work. Recently one of my patients, being 91 and still very much alive and active was denied treatment because they said she was too old and that she should just die. No compassion!!!
The job of a physician is to support and restore life. When we’re commanded to take a life instead of preserving it, everything has been turned upside down. I’ve taken oaths in my life that are every bit a part of me now as when I took them. The first one was to defend the United States and the Constitution against all threats both foreign and domestic. I take that very personal, and am still bound by it. The second was to protect and defend life and to do no harm.
When I observe so many drugs which carry side effects, often greater than the disease they are prescribed for, I have to question their use. In cases where these have been employed, and have created dependance (as in so many psych drugs), the challenge involves restoring the foundational health of that person, and dealing with the cause.
Lately I’ve been faced with many placed on these psych drugs, and one of the worst being Cymbalta. Restoring the person while maintaining sanity can be challenging. Besides detoxifying them, the person needs to exercise their personal willpower and make appropriate choices during the transition. Like I stated earlier, we all make bad choices, but how we recover from those choices involve making better choices, leaving the past behind.
I love what the apostle Paul said in the book of Philippians: “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” There are so many who refuse to let go of the past and the injuries suffered.
I’ve found that focusing on, and worrying about mistakes we’ve made in the past actually influences our present actions to the point of repeating them. Learn from your mistakes, forgive yourself, and move on. Begin to make choices from good understanding and sound judgement.
