So often we make unrealistic New Year’s resolutions that never come to pass. We start out strong, but as we fail to see success, we begin to falter and eventually abandon our goals, never seeing them fulfilled.
If you’ve suffered many failures in the past, consider looking into how to make your dreams actually come true. The ability to stay on task involves remaining focused.
If you’ve decided to improve your health by eating healthier, you must go through your pantry and throw out anything that could sabotage you. Those sweets have a way of calling you out of a deep sleep. Don’t have them in the house. I am an excellent baker, but I don’t bake unless I’m giving it away. Those baked goods are a temptation I don’t need.
If you’ve decided to get in shape and exercise more, you need to make it a priority over other things. Turn off the television and put your workout first place instead. Get a workout partner so you can maintain accountability to someone other than yourself. Most people are more accountable to others before themselves.
Unfortunately due to the Covid scare, most gyms are closed and this has greatly impacted those who have been diligent at working out daily. For those and the rest of us, there are many ways we can get off our posterior and begin to increase activity. I obtained a stationary bike on Craigslist and at a wonderful price. I put it where I have to almost trip over it, making it more accessible to me. I’ve made goals of how long and aggressive I want to ride and work each day toward achieving this.
With spring around the corner, I want to be able to hike in the Cascades and Olympics with my son-in-law, and need to make sure I’m in shape for it. Waiting till spring is too late. Start training now. The number of those who make exercise purchases and don’t set goals is our win as it’s easy to buy this for pennies on the dollar if you just look for it.
Activity, especially walking or pedaling stimulates the abdominal muscles which in turn help to maintain bowel health. This aids in freeing up fat that often forms in the abdomen, to provide fuel for the energy expended. Abdominal fat is commonly seen when dealing with blood sugar problems and heart disease. To help encourage your continued activity, consider using a tape and measure your abdomen at the navel and monitor this measurement. As the diameter reduces, this should help fuel your desire to continue your work outs.
If your New Year’s resolution is to eat healthier, make a point of reading labels avoiding foods which contain high fructose corn syrup as this increases fatty liver issues. Since corn is the most genetically modified food, it has the potential of creating multiple allergies due to the nature of perverted DNA influencing how your immune system responds.
Even though it can be controversial as to whether your organic foods are truly organic, I would rather hedge my bets and stay with what should be healthier for my body. Cooking from scratch helps us to have better control over just what goes into our bodies when we eat. Again, this is where we have to devote more of our time and energy into our vision if we truly expect to see change with our desired New Year’s resolution.
Since I can’t have full control over the food I eat, I take the initiative to supplement with whole food nutrition from Standard Process on a daily basis. I believe this is one area which has given me an edge over others when it comes to remaining healthy.
I would say that the greatest New Year’s resolution one could make is to stop going into debt and work toward being debt free. Getting rid of credit cards and only purchasing what you need and have the funds available to pay with cash is probably the one best decision you can make. Not paying out loads of money for a new car smell works for me. I prefer to pay cash for my vehicles and not have that debt hanging over my head. Been there, done that, never again.
Whatever healthy changes you decide to adopt in 2021, write down your vision and post it where you can review it daily. This one habit is something the most successful people in the world have developed.
