In the topic of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which includes Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis, one doctor showed how certain parasites actually produced proteins which down-regulated inflammation in the gut. This is totally contrary to my 37 year battle against parasites.
He presented case studies where patients with multiple bloody bowel movements, were exhausted, anemic, and had constant abdominal pain. Multiple foods aggravated them, and their diet was severely restricted. After being intentionally infected with a specific parasite, six months later were pain free, normal bowel activity, and able to eat normally, even gluten again. I’m still having trouble with this, and need to research it more. I’ve seen too many problems with parasites to be totally convinced.
One of the best measures of how something works is to evaluate patient outcome. When drugs or even nutritional supplements are used to suppress symptoms, then removed only to still have the problem, it should be clear the procedure didn’t correct the condition.
Evidence based medicine allows us to build a track record. If we fail to see lasting benefit, it’s time to consider better alternative treatments with lasting results. 37 years of observing patient outcome has allowed me to see what works and what doesn’t.
I Recently saw where use of a drug to stop symptoms of a superficial disease initiated a crippling case of inflammatory bowel disease. The first disease was superficial, and not life threatening, but when suppressed, literally morphed into a deeper, more severe condition.
Dr Hans Reckeweg explained in his book on Homotoxicology how clearance of cellular metabolites goes from superficial to deeper organs, and from less threatening to more severe when the normal paths of elimination are suppressed.
Inflammation is a part of the reaction phase, and is a natural response of the body to clear that which doesn’t get cleared through normal pathways. The best treatment is to assist removal of what the body’s trying to burn up. When intervention stops this process, it gets deposited deeper in the system, and can create chronic, degenerative changes.
When normal function is restored, frequently the body will return to clearing what was suppressed in the past. An example would be assisting the body in healing a condition of asthma, with an old eczema returning, which had been suppressed with steroids before the asthma showed up. The eczema is superficial and not life threatening where the asthma has a greater threat to life and is a deeper condition. If the asthma isn’t cleared, but suppressed like the eczema, we could see a deeper issue like liver failure or even lung cancer result.
The thread of disease processes could have been averted if the patient had been properly evaluated and treated for the eczema, which could easily be due to a nutritional imbalance such as vitamin A or B6 deficiency.
As the practice of medicine relies more and more on pharmaceutical chemicals over restoring lacking nutrition, normal clearance processes are becoming more perverted, leading to greater health challenges with the roots of the original condition buried deeper.
Since the gastrointestinal system is involved with both nourishing the body as well as carrying away waste, it should be considered primary in restoring health. How we feed the garden of our gut impacts the harvest of cellular nutrition. Destroying the gut with acid blockers and antibiotics is the fast track to many diseases which may or may not look related. Your gastrointestinal tract is critical to your health, and the indiscriminate use of antibiotics puts you at great risk.
If your gut is a mess, it’s likely the rest of your system is at risk.
